The Rossendale Valley is an area of natural beauty that stretches across Lancashire, England. It’s a great place to explore and learn about the local culture and history. One of the best ways to do this is by visiting the many museums and galleries in the area.

From ancient artifacts to modern artworks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in the Rossendale Valley. The Whitaker Museum & Art Gallery is a great place to start your exploration of local culture and history. Located in Rawtenstall, it features a range of permanent collections covering everything from archaeology and geology to fine art, decorative arts, textiles, and more. In addition to its exhibitions, the museum also hosts regular events such as art classes for all ages, special lectures, workshops, gallery tours and much more.

The Whitaker Museum & Art Gallery is open daily from 10am until 5pm (except Sundays). Next up is The Helmshore Mills Textile Museum which showcases one of Britain's most important industrial heritage sites with its restored mill buildings dating back two centuries which were once part of Lancashire's thriving cotton industry. The museum includes working examples of 19th century machinery as well as interactive displays which offer insight into the lives of those who worked at this famous site during its heyday. Visitors can also learn about traditional weaving techniques at their onsite workshops or take a guided tour through some of their restored buildings for a truly unique experience. The Helmshore Mills Textile Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-5pm (closed Sundays & Mondays).
