Walker Woods is a suburban backyard wildlife habitat and live nature observatory in Elgin, Illinois.

Created in May 2026, the habitat features a waterfall, winding 40-foot stream, pond, wetland area, native wildflowers, bird feeders, hummingbird feeders, and small critter feeding stations designed to attract local wildlife.

The livestream includes a live observatory dashboard displaying current weather conditions, habitat age, species counts, and recent wildlife observations. As new species are discovered, they are added to the growing Walker Woods lifetime species list.

Because the habitat is still very young, viewers have a unique opportunity to watch an ecosystem establish itself from the beginning as new plants mature and wildlife continues to discover the habitat.

Our goal is to document the growth of the habitat and share the experience with anyone who enjoys nature, wildlife watching, ecology, and backyard conservation.
