Hall of Fame Drive and I-40 Interstate SmartFIX40 Project Hall of Fame Drive was a new addition to Knoxville Tennessee from the SmartFIX40 project. A section of I-40 through downtown Knoxville between James White Parkway and Hall of Fame Drive was completely closed to all traffic for about 18 months for a massive reconstruction. This massive reconstruction was headed up by the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s also known as TDOT. This construction project was labeled as SmartFIX40. The SmartFIX40 project was recognized as one of the top transportation projects in the nation. The American Association of State and Highway Transportation Officials selected SmartFIX40 Contract 2 for an “America’s Transportation Award” for “On Time Completion, Medium Project” in the Southeast Region. The multiple trail system leads up to some of the most breathtaking overviews of Knoxville and its surrounding counties. Two reservable shelters and multiple picnic tables are available in the park. Sharp's Ridge is the perfect vantage point to view what Knoxville has to offer. Sharp's Ridge Memorial Park is one of the best places in the Knoxville region to observe migrant songbirds during the spring. The 2,100-foot crest of House Mountain provides significant vistas where visitors may scan the parallel ranges of the Unakas and Cumberlands some 30 miles away, or look northeast at the adjacent Clinch Mountain. The steep slopes of House Mountain are heavily wooded and possess a unique combination of scenic views, rock outcrops, and a variety of bird and plant life.
