Dobrodošli!     Virje je smješteno uz prugu Koprivnica-Osijek, 18 kilometara udaljeno od Koprivnice, na plodnoj ravnici izmedju Rijeke Drave i vinorodnih brežuljaka Bilogore. Vec u doba Rimljana, Virje je poznato kao postaja Lentulis, na rimskoj cesti izmedju Poetovije (Ptuja) i Murse (Osijeka). U srednjem vijeku se na istom mjestu spominje utvrda i  posjed Prodavic (Prodavicz, Prodawis), koja osnivanjem Vojne krajine prelazi pod vojnu upravu. Nakon opasnosti od Osmanlija uz ime Weissenburg koje datira iz 16. stoljeca i Weisenthurm iz 17. stoljeca. Današnji naziv Virje (Wyrye) se po prvi puta spominje u zakljuccima Hrvatskoga sabora u Zagrebu iz 1603. godine i službenim spisima iz 1626. godine. Najnovijim istraživanjima osmanskih dokumenata u Carigradu pronadjen je trenutno najstariji spomen imena Virje u zapisima o utvrdi Virolar – Virje iz 1552. godine.  Službena stranica mjesta nalazi se ovdje. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Welcome! Virje is located along the Koprivnica-Osijek railway, 18 kilometers away from Koprivnica, on a fertile plain between the Drava River and the wine-growing hills of Bilogora. Already in Roman times, Virje was known as the Lentulis station, on the Roman road between Poetovija (Ptuj) and Mursa (Osijek). In the Middle Ages, the fort and estate of Prodavi? (Prodavicz, Prodawis) are mentioned in the same place, which became a military administration with the establishment of the Military Border. After the Ottoman threat with the name Weissenburg dating from the 16th century and the Weisenthurm from the 17th century. Today's name Wyrye is mentioned for the first time in the conclusions of the Croatian Parlament in Zagreb from 1603 and in official documents from 1626. The latest research of Ottoman documents in Constantinople has found the oldest mention of the name Virje in the records of the fort Virolar - Virje from 1552. The official site page is here.
